3.1 Source/Sustainability
There are 5 main aspects in the Materials [7-12]
3.1.1. Human beings working with materials
  • Human made things: making developed with more complex, making processes, more craft labour, greater amounts and types of material.
  • Industrial revolution: decrease craft labour and increase in machinery.
3.1.2 Where materials come from
3.1.3 Ways of making
There are 3 main types: Rock-stone-sand-cement-clay
·       Igneous: from molten magma cools and forms rock.
·       Sedimentary: Lay down as sediment, usually beneath the sea.
·       Metamorphic: changed by heat, pressure, or both, from the sedimentary and igneous rock.
3.1.4 Properties and qualities of materials


Principle properties: strength, hardness, density, stiffness, ductility, conductivity, toughness, elasticity, malleability, plasticity, fusibility and durability.
